Inspired by daughter, Layla's Blush Room opens in Cicero

Geri Perez is a resident of Cicero and the owner/ head makeup artist at Layla’s Blush Room, a newly opened, professional makeup studio here in Cicero located on the cross section of 58th Ave and Cermak. 

Being a Cicero resident and a local business, the importance of community is evident as she is friendly with her neighboring local businesses.

“It’s really important to remain in unison with everybody that’s in the community. You got to build your partnerships along with your friendships and everybody kinda helps each other out,” said Perez. “We are all, for the most part, Latino owned businesses and that’s really important to be a female Latina business owner in the community.”

Perez took this idea of opening up her own professional makeup studio, idea that was in the making for a few years, and accomplished that goal this past August.

“Everything felt like it was supposed to happen, so smooth,” Perez explained. “We have been open since August only a little over 2 months and it’s been great. It’s been a blessing and it just lets me know that everything is supposed to happen when it’s supposed to happen, so it feels very fulfilling.”
