We are looking for the next person to join our talented team to deliver information to our Cicero and Berwyn neighbors!
Cicero Independiente is looking for a youth and schools reporter to come on board. We’re looking for someone who is excited to take lead from youth about the issues that are important to them and work to ensure that information reaches the people most impacted by local issues.

Payment:
The youth and schools community reporter will be paid $2,376 per month as an independent contractor, reflecting Cicero Independiente’s standard hourly rate of $33/hour for approximately 18 hours of work a week.
Timeline:
The community reporter’s contract will run from mid-July to mid-March 2024.
The role:
The community reporter will develop a “Youth and Schools” beat to inform and engage Cicero and Berwyn residents. The person in this role will spend the first few weeks of their contract building relationships with Cicero and Berwyn residents to learn more about their information needs in this beat. Using insights from those conversations and with the support of the editorial team, the community reporter will develop editorial projects to be distributed online, on social media and in-person.
The community reporter will be required to regularly engage with youth, parents, schools and organizations whose mission is to serve these populations. Attending public meetings and events will be required. The community reporter will be a representative of Cicero Independiente and should use the newsrooms’ resources to serve the Cicero and Berwyn community.
